At CIPD Level 3 we offer three options: the Award, the Certificate, and the Diploma. The last two lead to associate membership of the CIPD, and will enable you to apply a wide-range of L&D management skills in the workplace.

  • CIPD Level 3 L&D workshops take place at our lovely South London study centre, SE23.

For more experienced professionals, you can complete modules through our competency route; this gives you 121 specialist tutor support that will guide you to build a portfolio of evidence in place of classroom learning. Sessions are arranged at times to suit you directly with the tutor using Skype.

We are one of very few providers to offer the CIPD Level 3 in L&D flexibly. We match expert tuition, regular start dates and development of practical skills – which you won’t get from an online class.

The CIPD Level 3 in Learning & Development has both written and practical assessments. You will go through the learning cycle from exploring learning needs to design, delivery and evaluation. You can also choose optional modules to develop skills in using digital technology and coaching & mentoring. 

Practical assessments include designing, delivery and evaluating a work-based training session where you will receive feedback from your peers and tutor. For the Diploma, you will also complete an assessed coaching session and deliver a piece of training via an online platform. 

Your tutor will support you throughout the course. We will also give you the CIPD e-textbook for the programme and access to our online student hub. You will have all the resources you need to successfully complete the qualification and become a confident and competent L&D specialist.

Supporting Individual Learning Through Coaching and Mentoring

Within this module you will use coaching and mentoring models and techniques. You will be able to explain the concept of coaching and mentoring, see how they differ and explore the benefits of each. You will be able to use both within your role to support individuals and know how to record discussions.

Identifying Learning and Development Needs

This award is for anyone who needs to refresh their understanding of the way that an L&D practitioner can identify, prioritise and develop learning needs. You will learn how to identify the skills, knowledge and behavioural needs of the organisation and its employees. You will also discuss methods of identifying learning needs for individuals and groups together with ways of analysing data and using results to develop accurate learning objectives.

Designing Learning and Development Activities

This module will develop you as an effective designer of learning activities. On completion of this module, you will:
– Understand factors which inform the design of learning and development activities
– Know how to devise clear learning objectives
– Be able to design an inclusive, accessible learning and development activity.

Delivering Learning and Development Activities

This module will take you through the essential stages of preparing for and delivering an effective session to a group of learners in an inclusive and positive environment. You will learn how to prepare for the delivery of an L&D session using a range of tools and strategies.

On completion of this course, you will know how to:
– Prepare for the delivery of a learning and development session to a group of learners
– Create a positive learning environment
– Use a range of training techniques, methods and resources to deliver an inclusive learning and development activity, for a group of learners, which meets identified objectives.

Evaluating Learning and Development Activities

This module will ensure you understand the rationale for evaluation, the different models, and how to develop an evaluation model appropriate for your context. It also covers different levels of evaluation and through practical application you will learn how to analyse the data gathered when conducting L&D activities.

Becoming an Effective Learning and Development Practitioner

This module aims to develop the core knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be an effective and reflective L&D professional. Delegates will undertake a practical self-assessment and devise a CPD plan detailing and justifying activities to facilitate personal development as an L&D practitioner.

Learning and Development and the Organisation
